At least 90% of pain and disease is stress related and any conditions where pain is present can actually be exacerbated by stress and anxiety. A vicious cycle is formed - increased feelings of pain cause more stress and anxiety and more stress and anxiety increase the feelings of pain!

Whilst relaxation methods don’t remove the pain, they can assist you in getting it under control. Relaxation helps muscles to release and your breathing and heart rate will also slow. It also helps the mind to become calm and by focusing elsewhere, it is distracted from any feelings of pain. The pain does not actually go away but it recedes into the background.
